Personally I don’t care too much for TinyMCE Advanced, which is the default html editor in Wordpress. It serves its purpose, but with no spell check it just dosn’t do it for me. So I use Microsoft Word or a similar word processor to author my posts. Many people have a tendancy to just copy and paste their beautifully written, well spelled post straight into Wordpress. If you use Word 2007 you will notice there is a fun little feature that allows you to create a new blog post. These are both not so great methods of publishing your information.

The best thing you can do is, copy and paste the entire contents into notepad. This will dump all the special encoding, font information, etc. Then again copy and paste from notepad, into the WordPress editor. Now you may use it to finish formatting your post, and adding images.

Doing this, although it takes an extra few seconds, will keep your posts cleaner, and keep a consistent look. Also it will prevent some images form not displaying or displaying incorectly. Thirdly, it may save you from sending a bunch of garbage encoded text to your entire RSS list.

I hear a lot of griping about how much posting is too much, not enough etc. I even wrote this previously on RF Web Studio about posting frequency.

So, my rule of thumb is once a week. Others certianly say daily, every other day etc. So my answer to all of you who ask how often should I post? When in doubt, just post. Think about it, if you are asking yourself, should I be blogging right now? the answer is usually Yes. Go post something.

By the way same is true for reading other blogs and commenting, if you are thinking to yourself, should I be watching YouTube now or reading and engaging other bloggers? the answer is positivly YES.

What is this Tag feature you may ask? A pretty nifty little invention for sure. Tagging is a way to lable content on your blog or any website. It is great serach engine bait, similar and possibly better than meta-tags for your website. Some WordPress plugins allow you to use your regular tags as meta tags (All In One SEO plug-in).

Will it help your blog gain popularity? Not as much as writing great content that everyone wants to get their hands on. But, if used to tag great content, then yes. So start tagging my friend.

In an effort to help promote my blogs and my customers blogs, I oftenfind myself reading other blogs. This should be a normal activity for all serious bloggers. I tend to leave comments as often as possible, but one thing I have bene doing latley is actually seeking the owner of the blog and trying to befrentd them. Just say Hi, and start a conversation with them. Perhaps some day you will meet up for a coffee or evne be a guest blogger on their site or visa versa.

Be careful not to come accross as wanting a link exchange. Most bloggers get a number of these request and usually discard them or even find them annoying. A simple hello should work.
